England Team for World Championship 2008
Alex Franklin
I am 23 years old and have recently qualified as a veterinary surgeon.
I ride for the Shropshire MGA team in England and won the 2008 British
Individual Championship and the 2008 British Pairs Championships with my
boyfriend Huw Whitney who is on the Welsh team. We were also World Pairs Champions in 2007.
My hobbies are drinking, rugby, having my picture taken with cows and sleeping.
P.S. I am a lousy poker player!
Elaine Trevor-Jones - Age: *cough*
I ride for Shropshire and the North of England MGA Teams. I’m lucky enough to be riding in my sixth World Team Championships this year, although the first time was so long ago it was for GB!! I have 10 World Champion titles, comprising of Individuals, pairs and teams.Working long days as a sales rep then keeping the ponies fit means any spare time I get is spent chilling out or tidying the house I’ve recently moved into with John (England’s cameraman!!) I can’t wait to get out to Australia – let the competition begin!!
David Mawby
I have been riding for many years, attending Pony Club where I represented Great Britain in Kentucky. Since joining MGA at sixteen, I have represented county teams and England in Norway, Germany and Sweden on many occasions. My best achievement being on the winning team at the WTC in Sweden.
Away from MGA I operate my own livestock business, enjoy playing badminton, spending time with my friends and family. I enjoy drinking and socialising wherever possible and in general getting into mischief. I’m unfortunate enough to be a ginger,but luckily, my girlfriend loves me.
Alex Edwards
Alex is 24 years old and rides for Royal Berkshire county Team. He was a member of the 2005 and 2006 winning European Championships Teams He enjoys football and rugby and supports Manchester United.
Dean Kingdon
'I am 25 years Old. I have ridden mounted games for about 15 years, first of all with the D&S pony club where we reached the national championships twice.
I started MGA as a junior with the Devon team & now ride for the Kent county Team.
I was a member of the winning england team at the European championships in Switzerland 06 & the winning team in Belguim last year.
I live & work down in deepest darkest devon as a Design engineer in a custom manufacturing workshop.
I have only heard great things about Australia so I am eagerly awaiting visiting, competing & having a wicked time!'
Trainer: Malcolm Trevor-Jones
Malcolm trains Shropshire MGA Team in England, and has been the Trainer of the England Team for the previous 3 World Team Championships. Although born in Wales and fluent in Welsh (more than the Welsh team!), he is England’s biggest supporter and will be striving to push this years team to their limits and hopefully success at the Championships.
If you don’t know Malcolm, you can't miss him – he’ll be the one napping in the middle of the day and wearing his lucky, burnt, flat cap!!
